Our Story

Quality Workmanship and Attention to Detail

Centred in Muskoka, Northland has been building homes and cottages in the area for over 30 years. Wayne and brother Cluir started building in Muskoka as the co-owners of Sunset Homes- the first Panabode dealer in the area. They then moved on to Northern Building Services which is now known as Northland Contracting. In the late 80's Wayne's sons, Kevin and Craig, joined him on the job site. Following Wayne's retirement in 2017, his youngest son Craig took the lead and now strives to continue to provide the highest quality building services, just as Northland has always done. Priding ourselves in our attention to detail, and strong customer relations, we always look to provide our clients with the highest quality workmanship and professionalism, from lot development to finished product. As a family company, we strive to treat you as we would our own family- honestly, proudly, and with care.

I'm taking this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to Northland Contracting for making my new project become a reality. Even though you came highly recommended by a friend, I still had my fears and reservations, seeing as this was my first large building project undertaken on my own. Any apprehensions were fairly shortly dismissed when I saw how professional, dedicated, conscientious and hardworking you were. I was looking for a contractor who actually would be on the job the majority of the time, instead of moving from job to job spending little time on my job, and that's exactly what I got. I really appreciated that you were personally involved in almost every aspect of the construction bringing your excellent knowledge and skills to the job with your meticulous, thorough, attention to detail. You seemed to acquired a good sense of what I was looking for, in style and desired effect, and often went that extra mile to make things happen. I felt we had a great rapour and good communications despite your very quiet demeanor. Covid-19 added it's own challenges with delays of product, backlogs for inspections increase in costs, but I never heard a real complaint throughout the entire process, and your team continued in a smooth, efficient and as timely a manner as possible. The workplace was kept as tidy as possible, often taking time between jobs to clean things up. Working with you and your loyal team has been a real pleasure, and please convey my sincere thanks for their contributions. Not only did I end up with a wonderful new building, but I learned so much through the process and have a healthier respect and appreciation for the great amount of planning and calculations that go on after the day is done for a contractor. I definitely would highly recommend Craig and his team at Northland Contracting to anyone who is looking for a trustworthy company with high standards to complete their new build. They will not be disappointed. I feel very fortunate to have had Craig as my builder.
